Join the growing affordable acupuncture community!

The Association of Community and Multibed Acupuncture Clinics is the UK’s only service dedicated to supporting and promoting multibed acupuncture clinics. All ACMAC member clinics are committed to providing affordable acupuncture to their local communities.

How can my clinic and I benefit from ACMAC membership?

Promotion

The ACMAC website receives thousands of hits each month, many of which are from patients looking for their nearest affordable acupuncture clinic. We will place your clinic details on the "Find a Clinic" page, along with your logo, link to your website, email, and any photos of your clinic that you may like to share. This presents clear information to the public.

Community and support

Just as our clinics benefit our patient-communities, we can create a supportive practitioner-community network. Being a member of ACMAC enables you to benefit from the wisdom and experiences of other members via our online forum. If you would like to join the forum please email info(at)acmac.net. At least once a year ACMAC hosts a conference on multibed/community acupuncture. This is an opportunity not only to learn new clinical skills and enhance our business and marketing acumen, but also to meet up and chew the fat together!

Discounts on supplies

Balance Healthcare has teamed up with JCM to create Balance @ JCM, and offers a 15% discount for ACMAC members on all needles (except Seirin which are already heavily discounted) and 10% discount on all other products (except books, also heavily discounted already).

See www.jcm.co.uk/catalogue.php?catID=200&opener=0-200 for a product and price list.

They have also generously offered to donate 5% of any post-discount order price to ACMAC, so if you order through them you will be keeping ACMAC membership fees low as well as benefiting from the discount.

They are very keen to support multibed clinics and you can contact Katherine Berry on katherine(at)balancehealthcare.com for free samples, a catalogue and any product info you might need. Please note that the website cannot calculate the ACMAC discount, so please call 0800 072 0202 (freephone) to place an order. You will need to tell Balance @ JCM your ACMAC clinic number when you order.

JCM is also happy to offer ACMAC members a 20% discount on the JCM CD-ROM. If you would like to order the CD-ROM, please contact the JCM office direct, via info(at)jcm.co.uk (not via Balance Healthcare) and tell them your clinic number.

What are conditions of membership?

ACMAC member clinics must aim to provide acupuncture at affordable rates. Member clinics are asked to provide acupuncture treatment at around half the local “going rate” for one-to-one treatment. Clinics may choose to offer a sliding scale of prices, and it is fine if the top end of that scale is similar to local one-to-one prices, so long as there are low-cost rates available too.

Member clinics are asked to abide by the British Acupuncture Council’s codes of conduct and safe practice, even if you are not members per se of the BAcC.

How much does membership cost?

UK members Sliding scale £30 - £50 per annum
Eurozone members Sliding scale €35 - €55 per annum

We charge our fees on a sliding scale because we think it is the fairest way to include multibed clinics of different sizes and types. The amount you choose to pay might reflect how well-established and/or busy your clinic is; in the true spirit of the sliding scale, however, you do not need to justify the amount you pay. If you have more than one clinic under the same name/brand, you may pay one fee, but in fairness to other clinics we ask that you pay at least £20 per clinic.

It is our intention that membership fees are kept as affordable as possible as we do not want to increase the costs of running your clinic. We are committed to seeking income from other sources in order to achieve this.

Please note that each new membership year starts on 31 January, i.e. the current membership year will expire on 30 January 2011. As the current year draws to a close, any new clinics joining ACMAC can therefore save money by using the standing order option to pay their membership fees, see below.

There are three ways you can pay your membership fees:

1. Standing order.

Please choose this method if possible. It offers these benefits:

  • For you, a regular small monthly payment, rather than a larger lump sum.
  • For ACMAC, the blessing of greater automisation. ACMAC is run on a very tight budget and maximising automisation of this aspect of our work means more time can be spent on supporting members and getting us all more patients.

These are the account details you will need to set up a standing order:

Account name: ACMAC
Sort code: 30-96-83
Account number: 01188930

Monthly standing order = per annum fee paid
£2.50 £30.00
£3.00 £36.00
£3.50 £42.00
£4.00 £48.00
£4.17 £50.00

2. Direct transfer to the ACMAC account.

If you choose this method, please transfer an amount between £30 and £50 to the following account:
Account name: ACMAC
Sort code: 30-96-83
Account number: 01188930
Please put your clinic name as the reference.

3. Cheque.

If you choose this method, please make your cheque payable to ACMAC, and send it to:
Charlotte Whitestone
ACMAC
104 Tower Ride
Uckfield
TN22 1NS

Please write your clinic name on the back of the cheque.
